at the Provincial Government Communicators Forum

Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba convened an engagement with Provincial Government Communicators in Polokwane, Capricorn District on Tuesday, 28 July 2026. The session was a continuation of The Provincial Government Communications Forum which was held in Thulamela Local Municipality in the Vhembe District Municipality from 16 to 17 July 2026, where she emphasised the critical role that communicators play across all spheres of government.

She described communicators as the bridge between government and the public, responsible for ensuring that government programmes, policies, and messages are clearly conveyed and understood by communities. Communicators have been urged to redouble their efforts when carrying out their responsibilities. MEC Ernest Rachoene also made remarks and presented Premier Dr Ramathuba.

The first day focused on key government communication priorities, with presentations on the Limpopo Provincial crime statistics and reflections, the Provincial Government Communication Action Plan for the 2026/27 financial year, media monitoring and content analysis, including the establishment of the Provincial Editorial Hub, among other strategic communication initiatives.

RAL was represented by Senior Manager for Communications, Ms Luyanda Sithole, together with Media Liaison Officer Mr Karabo Matlala, Publications and Events Officer Mr Paseka Mpe and Communications interns, Mr Karabo Nkwana, Mr Brian Mulaudzi and Mr Siyabonga Bilankulu. Their participation reflects the Agency’s commitment to enhancing communication capacity, staying abreast of emerging trends, and supporting the delivery of accurate, credible, and residents-centred government communication. The forum provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, professional development and strengthening partnerships among government communicators across Limpopo.

Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) Communications Team participated in the Provincial Government Communicators Forum to strengthen their understanding of effective public communication and align their communications efforts with government’s priorities in delivering clear, timely and people-centred information to communities. The forum in Thulamela brought together government communicators from provincial departments and public entities to strengthen collaboration, share best practices and align communication efforts across the province.

Policy, which aims to guide the effective use of digital media while ensuring residents have access to accurate information about government programmes, services and opportunities that can improve their livelihoods. Additionally, a simulation of a Rapid Response (RR) team meeting was conducted to demonstrate to those who need to establish it in their organisations on how to go about it. RR is an important exercise done by OTP daily to quickly monitor and categorise media coverage according to favourability and determine the best cause of action or response.
