MEC Rachoene leading #OperationTsogaMoshomi and project monitoring on road D3377 in the Matlala Area, under Capricorn District.

Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Tonny Ernest Rachoene, led key service delivery acceleration initiatives on 17 August 2026. The MEC started with #OperationTsogaMoshomi at the Matlala Cost-Centre in the Capricorn District, an initiative intended to encourage employee punctuality and promote a culture of accountability among public servants. The surprise visit was a follow-up to the previous visit where the MEC implored the management of the cost centre to make the maintenance of road D19, famously known as the Matlala Road, a special priority. He expressed satisfaction with the improvements made by the management of the centre, looking at the visible work carried out on the road.

MEC Rachoene also took a detour to monitor progress on the ongoing road D3377 upgrade, from gravel to tar. This forms part of the 21 new projects announced in the previous financial year and connects Limburg and Setumong.

During the monitoring visit, the MEC expressed satisfaction with the quality of work carried out on the project.

“The work we undertake as a department is not simply about being on site and completing activities for the sake of it. We are committed to ensuring that every project delivers tangible results and meets the required quality standards. This is an expectation we consistently communicate to and enforce with our contractors,” said MEC Rachoene.
